2 drivers face DWI, other charges following crash in New York

Two men are facing DWI and other charges following an accident in Bellmore on Nov. 18. According to reports, a 25-year-old woman was seriously injured in the crash, which happened on Bellmore Avenue at approximately 4:32 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that one man was expected to be arraigned in the First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 19. The other offender remained hospitalized with multiple facial lacerations.

Rapper facing drunk driving charges in New York

Police in New York have reported that Willie Maxwell, who is better known by his stage name Fetty Wap, was taken into custody on a raft of charges including driving while intoxicated during the early morning hours of Nov. 3. The 26-year-old rapper was allegedly driving his girlfriend's Mercedes sedan and street racing in Kings County when he was pulled over. A Brooklyn arraignment judge released Wap on his own recognizance later in the day, but he warned the 'My Way" singer that his decision could be revisited if he got behind the wheel again.

Woman faces felony DWI charges

A 37-year-old New York woman is facing felony drunk driving and other charges following a traffic stop on Oct. 24. New York State Police reports indicate that the woman had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit at the time of the incident. State police also say that a 7-year-old child and a 3-year-old child were inside the woman's vehicle when it was pulled over on East Main Street in the town of Verona.

Man faces 15 years in connection with fatal DWI incident

On Oct. 23, a New York State Supreme Court judge convicted a Port Jefferson Station man of second-degree manslaughter in connection with a DWI crash that occurred in 2015. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney, the 56-year-old man was also convicted on charges of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, including driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of alcohol and cocaine; driving while ability impaired by a drug, cocaine; driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. The conviction came following a two-week bench trial.

Driver of unregistered vehicle faces DWI and other charges

In New York, two Connecticut men face numerous criminal charges following a traffic stop in the town of Southeast. As reported, the charges ensued after New York State Police troopers pulled over a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Danbury man on several unspecified traffic violations. Police later took both the driver and his 35-year-old passenger into custody in Putnam County. November court dates have been set for both men.
