Alan Jackson's daughter charged with underage drinking

New York country music fans may be shocked to hear that Alan Jackson's daughter was taken into police custody after allegedly being involved in an altercation with an officer during a traffic stop. According to the officer's affidavit, she had been a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over. She reportedly exited the vehicle before striking the officer on the chest.

The police affidavit also alleged that she resisted when officers attempted to handcuff her. She then stated that she had been drinking and that her father would anything that she wanted. She was charged with assault, underage drinking and resisting arrest. She was released from custody shortly thereafter.

For New York drivers who are caught drinking and are under the age of 21, the penalties are incredibly severe, possibly more so than for someone who is over 21. If convicted for a DWI, individuals could lose their driving privileges for at least one year. If they are convicted for a second DWI, they could lose their license for up to one year or until they are 21, whichever period is longer. They could also be required to pay fines and court costs. These convictions may also remain on the individual's permanent record.

Those who are charged with an underage DWI have the option of calling an experienced New York defense attorney. An attorney may be able to give valuable legal advice that could help an individual become eligible for youthful defender treatment for those who are under 19. This would seal the record of the conviction. In addition, they may be able to have the charges or punishments reduced depending upon the evidence stemming from the case.
